Information on Coursework to Take Abroad for Neuroscience Majors/Minors
Although ALL units and grades from EAP courses transfer automatically to your UCLA transcript and count towards graduation, applying the courses to major, minor or school requirements requires department approval. In Neuroscience,
- Majors can apply up to 15 units taken outside UCLA toward upper division requirements in the major.
- Majors and Minors may also apply courses towards language and GE requirements.
For specific questions regarding requirements and course transfers, contact your major adviser.
Advice from Neuroscience Department Advisers
- “Plan ahead. Life Science majors, like Neuroscience, involve a lot of series courses that can lead to conflicts when trying to go abroad.”
- “Save GE's. If you plan to go abroad do not complete all of your GE's your first year or two at UCLA. You can complete them abroad.”
- “Fall of your 4th year is a good time to study abroad if you are a NS major. However, it can be difficult to find courses abroad that will fulfill your NS major requirements so it is a good idea work on the following while abroad: 1. GE's; 2. Minor; 3. Foreign Language Requirement; 4. The 9 extra upper division units that you need to graduate (the Neuroscience major only gives you 51 of the 60 upper division units necessary to graduate from UCLA).”
- “Utilize summer study abroad programs.”
