The Education Abroad Program (EAP)
Study abroad offers a unique opportunity for students to explore another culture while earning credit towards graduation. Through EAP, the University of California system offers over 140 exchange programs in more than 30 countries. Students can spend a summer, semester or year abroad. Courses taken abroad may be counted towards major, minor or GE requirements. Some programs also offer students the possibility to do field work, independent research or an internship abroad.
EAP offers many benefits:
- Direct Transfer of Credit: All grades and courses from EAP will automatically show as UC credit on your UCLA transcript.
- Reasonable Cost: Since most EAP programs are exchanges; costs are low. Students pay tuition to UC while room and board are paid directly to the host university abroad.
- Financial Aid: Students can use federal, state and UCLA based aid towards the cost of a program; including airfare and living expenses. Scholarships are available.
- Rewarding Experience: Students gain confidence, a greater sense of independence, cultural competency, language skills and self awareness from being immersed in another culture for an extended period. These skills are important in an increasingly global marketplace.
We encourage you explore your many options and use our tools to find the program that best suits your needs. If you have any questions, you can meet with one of our counselors who are highly trained in helping students find the right program. Get ready for a life-changing adventure!
