If you are a graduate or Ph.D. student from another institution, you may seek placement for short-term non-degree study or independent research within an academic department at UCLA. Visiting UCLA as an international student is subject to the approval of the academic department. The duration of the visit will need to conform to the UCLA Academic Calendar. When applying, graduate or Ph.D. students need to submit a statement of purpose, a letter of recommendation from their home institution, and a Curriculum Vitae/Resume along with other documents to support their request for a visa. In order to ensure adequate time for review, it is recommended that students register four to six months in advance of the first academic quarter they plan to study at UCLA.
