Michael F. Lofchie (Session I) is a professor of Political Science at UCLA, where he has served as a member of the faculty since 1964. Professor Lofchie received his B.A. from Harvard and his Ph. D. from the University of California, Berkeley. His current teaching interests include both sub-Saharan Africa, about which he has written extensively, and the politics of contemporary western Europe. His Introduction to Comparative Politics (Political Science 50) focuses on the political systems of Britain and France. He also teaches a class on the Political Economy of Africa and, at the graduate level, a seminar on approaches to the study of comparative government.
