EAP Application and Selection Policy
Students will be selected for programs on a first come, first served basis. Should a program receive more qualified applications than there are program spaces, students will be selected based on the time and date of their complete, hard copy application submission to our office. In this light, it is beneficial for you to submit your application as early as possible, as impacted programs will fill before the application closing date.
Requirements
Students must meet the minimum application requirements for their program. Please refer to the EAP website for the specific requirements of your program.
Application Filing Period
Students may submit applications for programs starting on the first day of Fall Quarter and ending on their program application closing date.
Selection by UCLA
You will be notified of your status via-email within 15 business days from the date your application was submitted. This letter will indicate whether you have been selected or waitlisted. The majority of correspondence will be done via e-mail, so it is important you check your e-mail on a regular basis.
Forwarding to UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)
In the weeks following your program application closing date, your application will be forwarded on to UCEAP, and later to the host university for final approval.
This process can take some time, and you may have to wait several months from when you were notified by the UCLA International Education Office and when you hear from UCEAP. However, selection by UCLA International Education Office means you are highly likely to be fully accepted, as it is extremely rare for a host university to reject a student that a campus has selected.
Pre-Departure
In the months prior to your departure, your UCLA EAP counselor will schedule a mandatory pre-departure orientation for your program. You will be notified via e-mail when the date has been scheduled.
