1.Egypt; 2.Israel; 3.Italy, Spain, UK/Ireland; 6.Turkey; 7.Denmark, Germany, Ghana, South Korea
Information on Coursework to Take Abroad for Near Eastern Majors/Minors
Although ALL units and grades from EAP courses transfer automatically to your UCLA transcript and count towards graduation, applying the courses to major, minor or school requirements requires department approval. In Near Eastern Languages and Cultures,
Majors and minors are not limited in the number of courses that may transfer to UD requirements, but they must remember that 24 units in the primary major must be completed in residence at UCLA.
For specific questions regarding requirements and course transfers, contact your major adviser:
Advice from Near Eastern Department Advisers
- “Students pursuing NELC majors or minors would benefit enormously from study abroad and are encouraged to participate in EAP and/or UCLA-affiliated archaeological excavations.”
“Please see an advisor before starting an EAP program. We can help you pick the program and courses that work best with your NELC major.” - “If you are studying a foreign language, remember that the language courses are designed to be taken in a year-long sequence. Please think about continuing your foreign language coursework while abroad and if you have any questions about the equivalency of courses, please ask the department adviser.”
- “In order to determine whether or not a course you take while on EAP will count towards a NELC major or minor, we would need to review the course description and syllabus. Please provide this information as part of your inquiry.”
