Information on Coursework to Take Abroad for French Majors/Minors
Although ALL units and grades from EAP courses transfer automatically to your UCLA transcript and count towards graduation, applying the courses to major, minor or school requirements requires department approval. In French,
Majors and minors are not limited in the number of courses that may transfer to UD requirements, but they must remember that 24 units in the primary major must be completed in residence at UCLA.

Advice from French Department Advisers
- Students are strongly encouraged to take French 12 before going abroad.
- Courses taken in French through EAP programs are easily counted toward the electives requirement in the major.
- Some courses may substitute for specific courses required in the major, such as French 101 or French 114A if these courses cover similar material.
- Upon return, students should be sure that courses taken abroad appear on their Degree Progress Report before petitioning advisers to apply these toward a major or minor.
