Although the vast majority of Italian majors and minors study in Italy, some have decided to study in countries where other languages are spoken. There, they have often fulfilled requirements for a second major, minor or for general education. The opportunities are endless, but these have been the most popular countries with Italian majors/minors in recent years:

Information on Coursework to Take Abroad for Italian Majors/Minors
Although ALL units and grades from EAP courses transfer automatically to your UCLA transcript and count towards graduation, applying the courses to major, minor or school requirements requires department approval. In Italian,
Majors and minors are not limited in the number of courses that may transfer to UD requirements, but they must remember that 24 units in the primary major must be completed in residence at UCLA.

Advice from Italian Department Advisers
- To facilitate course approval and application toward the major, Italian majors are encouraged to study literature, culture and civilization when abroad.
- Students focusing on Italian language are recommended to study at the Siena program.
- Students are reminded that it is possible to take Italian 5 and 6 concurrently on campus and may wish to explore this option to prepare for studying abroad.
- Students should keep the syllabus from each course taken abroad and have it ready for the department adviser when they return and apply for course approval and transfer.
